Guest data. The new oil?
Technology companies are showing more and more enthusiasm for the comparison of Big Data to Big Oil but are data really that valuable? It is clear hotels today are gathering more guest data than ever, but there are still challenges in using the data and extracting real value. We will look at the current guest data landscape and highlight examples of how hotels turn their data in value.

From silos to convergence- Future proofing your network
Hotels are challenged by the accumulation and superimposition of technology blocks often due to the way investment cycles operate, brand and owner variations but also due to the rapid pace of change. The complexities are set to increase with the ever-increasing demand for bandwidth from guests, the implementation of operational technology solutions and the advent of IOT. In this presentation Juan Aguirre from Ruckus Networks looks at how best to prepare for the future whilst taking into account the operational and financial constraints our industry faces.

Why does casting provide the best entertainment experience for the modern day traveller?
The way we watch our favourite TV shows is changing. More and more households don’t even have a TV aerial and rely completely on online streaming services to access their content. 10 million people now have Netflix accounts in the UK alone. The modern day traveller wants to access their content anywhere and anytime. If guests can access their content easily in a hotel, without compromising on the big screen experience they are used to at home, their entertainment needs are sure to be satisfied.

How to be a data-driven hotelier and wow your guests
Take a look around your hotel and you’ll find that data is everywhere. Guest details, occupancy levels, online reviews and ratings. The list goes on. But whether it’s used for understanding guests’ habits or improving service times to shave precious hours from a task, data is the key to making informed and confident decisions. So how do you take data and use it to understand your guests' behaviour and your business? And perhaps more crucially, which metrics should you focus on using the technology at your property?

Data workshops
Simon I'Anson will be joined by great hospitality minds who, together with the conference guests, will try to find answers to the most arresting hotel data questions out there.
This session will be divided into three parts:
Part I: What is your Guest Journey?
Where to collect the data from? How to identify your digital touchpoints? Can only big hotels design their own Guest Journey?
In this part, we will try to find answers around where to begin your adventure in the world of data.
Part II: How to collect hotel data?
What systems can be used to collect data? Is it better to have one or multiple vendors supplying you with data? How should this data look, and how can you work it to your advantage?
During this block, our experts will discuss the operational side of data collection.
Part III: I have the data. What next?
How can you report on the collected data? Is it worth using professionals to evaluate it? How can data change the way you're making new business decisions?
In this session, Simon and his guests will give some hands-on tips on the reporting and final implementation of hotel data.
