It is now the 22nd time that Team Rynkeby has cycled to Paris to raise money for children with cancer and their families. WLK has signed a silver sponsorship with the charity cycling team, Team Rynkeby, which cycles to Paris 8 - 15 July 2023. The sponsorship goes to Barncancerfondens work to exterminate cancer in children.
"We think this is a fantastic and heartwarming initiative to create awareness and raise money for Children's Cancer Research," says Peder Nordenback, CEO of WLK.
Team Rynkeby is an international charity project that cycles to Paris every year to raise money for seriously ill children.
The first year, 2002, there were 11 cyclists who cycled. Today, the cycling team consists of more than 2,700 cyclists and 600 service participants distributed among 64 local teams from Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, the Faroe Islands, Iceland, Germany, Switzerland and Belgium.
Since 2011, the project in Sweden has donated 265.9 million SEK to seriously ill children.
"The majority of the money goes to finance research into childhood cancer. Childhood cancer continues to be the disease that takes the lives of most children between the ages of 1 and 14, and there are far too many children who experience serious side effects from the treatment," says Paul Chronqvist Svensson, Country Manager for Team Rynkeby Sweden.
Team-Rynkeby is a European cycling project (founded 2002) that annually cycles to Paris to raise money for benefit for seriously ill children.
In 2023, we will be more than 2,700 cyclists and 600 service participants from 9 different nations, distributed among 67 teams.
In the 2021-22 season, Team-Rynkeby Sweden donated almost 30 million to the Swedish Barncancerfonden.
Since 2011, the Swedish teams have collected over 260 million and are Barncancerfondens largest contributor.
